During the 2007-08 season, owner Clay Bennett publicly stated that he would move the team to his hometown of Oklahoma City as negotiations with the city of Seattle for a new arena broke down. On the court, with Ray Allen traded and the Supersonics without enough talented players to complement the team's rookie forward Kevin Durant, new head coach P.J. Carlesimo started the season with eight straight losses, going 3-for-14 in the first month. Eventually the Supersonics only got the worst 20 wins and 62 losses regular season record in team history. On the player side: Kevin Durant led all rookies with 20.3 points per game and won the Rookie of the Year award.
